This workshop is for people who want to learn how to take better photographs of their own families.

Most of us have at least one camera, but fancy cameras can be overwhelming and phone cameras can be deceptively simple. Yet the approach to making good photographs is the same.

We will start by taking specific photographs (like the one above, of the jumping little boy), and deconstructing them.

So, your first assignment (pre-workshop) is to FIND A PHOTOGRAPH YOU LOVE and bring it - either from a book, printed, in a magazine, etc.

The workshop will cover basic principles of photography, in a hands-on way. Bringing your camera is HIGHLY encouraged. If you don't have a camera, please let me know ahead of time and I will make sure to bring one for you to use and learn on during the class.

The following are topics we will cover:

- Light (do you really need it?)
- Composition (how to move your body to get a better shot)
- Camera Settings (and which ones you can ignore)
- Intention (a.k.a. the meaning of life)

At the end of the workshop, you should be able to easily take a good photograph of your own kids/pets/partners jumping on the bed, or at the very least understand the principles of how to do so. :D

Class runs 6.30-8.00pm but I will be available for a 30-minute period afterwards where you can ask any questions about what we've learned, or any other question about photography.

AND, we are going to have lots of fun!!!

I'm excited to see you all there!

The event is kid-friendly and open to everyone. You're welcome to bring young children/babies along if you don't have childcare available.
