I have tremendous respect for photographers who are good at posing their clients, getting the best angles of their faces, and achieving beautiful portraits as a result. It's hard to do it well, so it earns a huge tip of my proverbial hat.

Me? I'm maybe not one of those photographers. I don't want to say never, because you ought never to say never. But for now. For a long time now. I consider it an exciting challenge - can I take the best photo possible of a person's face, without directing them an ounce? (Did I mention I get bored easily?)

So, today's blog post features a few portraits, unposed, from last week's shoots.

Indoor portraits can have gorgeous light, too. A girl in Hamilton paused from her play to look at me and I took this snap.
