Skate Jam in August 2022 - Kingston, Ontario ❤
/Hold on to your hats, folks, cause there’s gonna be a whole lotta skateboarding photos coming up!
If you’re a fan of skateboarding, then this event might have been perfect for you!
It was a scorcher of a day, though, feeling like 39 degrees.
But obviously that doesn’t ever stop skateboarders from doing what they’re so good at!
We put this event together because there just aren’t nearly enough skateboarding events in our little town.
And that’s a shame, because there’s a LOT of awesome skaters in town, and even more folks who enjoy seeing the skaters do their thing.
There was a barbeque, face-painting, and a lot of fun skate competitions.
For one of them, the skaters had to wear really big pants over top of their existing pants… without a belt!
It was a challenge, to say the least, also because - as we have established - it was like 40 degrees out!
Luckily, there were freezies to cool everyone down.
As a photographer who is NOT a skateboarder (I mean… I tried for about a year so far… but you get hurt a lot, and I am not a huge fan of getting hurt 😜), I’m still learning what makes a good skateboarding photo.
I’m also trying to make sure I’ve got enough photos of the entire event - and not just the skateboarding photos - to flesh out the story.
It’s a work in progress.
For the next one, I want to grab a few individual portraits of the skaters. I think that would make a nice addition to the story.
